Post Graduate Diploma / Fellowship (PGD/PGF) Course

Eligibility :  Any applicant with qualification of MBBS, B.Sc. Nursing, M.Sc./ M. Phil Medical Psychology, B. Tech / M.Sc. Biotechnology from a recognized University

Stipend :   Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand) for per month for 12 months will be awarded by DBT (Govt. of India).

Postgraduate fellowship in Family Planning (Course Code 8911)

Eligibility :  Any applicant with qualification of MBBS from a recognized University

Stipend :  Rs.25,000/- (Rupees Twenty Five Thousand) for per month for 12 months will be awarded.

Ph.D (Doctor of Philosophy) (Course Code: 8912 )

No. of Posts :  20

Eligibility :  A candidate seeking admission to the course of study leading to the award of a Degree of Doctor of Philosophy must possess at least any one of the following qualifications with minimum of one paper published in any indexed journals are alone eligible to apply. The paper should be an original article. Those candidates whose paper had been accepted also are eligible to apply.

(a) Medical qualification: MBBS or MD in the subject concerned as per the requirement of the project or Diplomate of National Board of Examination. Candidates who have obtained any of these degrees from medical colleges which are not recognized by the Medical Council of India shall not be eligible to apply.

(b) Nursing Qualification: Candidates holding M.Sc. degree in Nursing Specialty i.e M.Sc. Medical Surgical Nursing will also be eligible for Ph. D admission in College of Nursing.

(c ) Non-Medical Qualification :  For nonmedical candidates eligibility shall be Master’s Degree (two / three years course) / awarded by Indian Universities or equivalent in the subject as per requirement of the project. Candidates holding B.Tech. Degree in the subject as per requirement of the project will be eligible for the Non-Medical Qualification Category. Candidates should have at least 60% of the aggregate marks (55% in case of SC/ST/OBC/OPH candidates) in the qualifying examinations.

Seats available under JRF / SRF (Junior Research Fellowship / Senior Research Fellowship) :  JRF/SRF Candidates, who wish to apply for the projects / disciplines available under JRF / SRF (Junior Research Fellowship / Senior Research Fellowship) scheme should also submit the application by online mode. They will be exempted from appearing for the PhD Entrance Examination. They will be called for interaction with the PhD admission Committee directly on 18.07.2019 (Thursday).

Interaction with PhD admission Committee :  The PhD admission committee will interact with shortlisted candidates to assess his/her aptitude, attitude, area of interest and feasibility to carry out the work at the specific department in JIPMER. The PhD admission committee will recommend the candidates for PhD admission in various projects / disciplines based on the performance of the candidates in the Interaction session. The decision of PhD admission committee will be final and binding

Stipendiary Provisions:  Students selected for Ph.D. in any of the disciplines will be paid as per JIPMER regulations, a monthly stipend of INR 25,000/- for the First year and Second year. Stipend of INR 28,000/-will be paid for the Third year and the extended period of their studies for Fourth and Fifth Year respectively.
