Job Description
Eligibility: A candidate is eligible for registration for Ph.D if he/she satisfies the following conditions: A Master’s degree in the concerned or an allied subject with a minimum of 1st class (C.P.I or C.G.P.A. greater than 6.75 on a 10 point scale if class is not provided) and GATE /UGC-NET/CSIR-NET in the concerned subject or discipline. Or A Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 1st class (C.P.I or C.G.P.A. greater than 6.75 on a 10 point scale if class is not provided) with at least 55% marks at Master’s level and GATE /UGC-NET/CSIR-NET in the concerned subject or discipline.
Note : GATE /UGC-NET/CSIR-NET in the concerned subject or discipline is mandatory. Department/Subject wise list of Areas of Research in Ph.D. Programme is as under:
1. Civil Engineering
2. Computer Science and Engineering
3. Electrical Engineering
4. Electronics Engineering
5. Mechanical Engineering
6. Mathematics
7. English
8. Chemistry
No. of Seats: 05* (UR-02, OBC-02, SC-01)
Selection Procedure: The eligible candidates will be called for written test. The candidate who secures at least 40% marks in the written test will be shortlisted for interview. Interview shall be conducted on the same day.
Application Fee: Candidate has to attach a demand draft of Rs. 500/- as application fee (Non-Refundable) with the application form.
Examination fee: The examination fee of Rs. 5000/- shall be paid by the candidate prior to the submission of the thesis.

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Uttarakhand is one among the ten newly sanctioned NITs in 2009 by Government of India under the 11th five year plan. The Institute is fully funded by Government of India under the Ministry of Human Resource Development. Presently, NIT Uttarakhand is carrying out its activities from its temporary campus at Government Polytechnic, Srinagar Garhwal, Uttarakhand. A new temporary campus is also functional at old ITI Campus near Government Polytechnic. Presently the Institute is running full time B. Tech. Program in Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering with intake of 60 students in each branch.
