Applied Mechanics Department: (a) Structure Engineering (b) Soil Mechanics & Foundation Engineering
Civil Engineering Department: (a) Environmental Engineering (b) Transportation Engineering and Planning. (c) Water Resource Engineering (d) Urban Planning
Chemical Engineering Department: (a) Chemical Engineering
Computer Engineering Department: (a) Computer Engineering
Electrical Engineering Department: (a) Power Electronics and Drives. (b) Power Systems
Electronics Engineering Department: (a) Communication Systems. (b) VLSI and Embedded Systems.
Mechanical Engineering Department: (a) Turbo Machines (b) Mechanical Engineering (c) Manufacturing Engineering (d) Thermal Systems Design (e) CAD - CAM
The eligibility for the admission to a Ph.D. Programme in faculty of Engineering, Science, Humanities and Social Science as well as Interdisciplinary areas are as follows: (a) A candidate shall possess Master Degree in relevant area of research and should have passed with at least second class with minimum 50% (CGPA=5.5) or equivalent in respective Engineering faculty and 55% in other cases, like programmes related with Humanities and Sciences. (b) If a student of full time M. Tech. Programme at the Institute willing to change over to a Ph.D. Programme of the Institute, he may be permitted to do so in the beginning of the second year provided: (i) He / She has obtained a CGPA of 9.0 or above after having registered for the full credits of course work in each of the first and second semester of M. Tech. programme. (ii) Once a student changes to Ph.D. programme, thereafter, he / she is governed by the Regulations of the Ph.D. programme of the Institute.
Application Fee: Candidates must submit the application and processing fee, Rs.1000/- (for Open/OBC) and Rs.500/- (for SC/ST) in the form of demand draft drawn in favour of “Director, SVNIT Surat” payable at Surat and required certificates as envisaged in the information brochure at the time of application.
Selection Procedure:Admission to eligible candidates may be offered on the basis of their performance in interview/written test/ presentation to be held at respective departments, the interview / presentation may be supplemented with written test if necessary.
Financial Support: The Full-time Institute research Scholars will be paid scholarship at a rate in accordance with the directives from the appropriate authorities. They are eligible to receive scholarship for a maximum period of three years, which may be extended for four years with approval of competent authority.
