Job Description
Applications are invited for admission to the following courses of the Institute during the academic year 2017-2018
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Population Studies
No. of Seats : 07 Seats
Qualification: Candidates having M.Phil in Population Studies or Master's degree in Population Studies or M.Sc. in Bio-Statistics and Epidemiology/Demography of a recognised university with at least 55% of aggregate marks in all subjects (all semesters/parts included). The upper age limit is 30 years as on 30.6.2017. Marks and age are relaxable for candidates belonging to reserved categories as per GOI rules. Age for women candidates is relaxable by 5 years. Candidates awaiting results of qualifying examination latest by 30th September 2017 can also apply for consideration.
Fellowship : The selected Indian students will be awarded a Government of India fellowship initially for one year only and is extendable on yearly basis as per rules of the Institute. Each eligible candidate with NET qualification for lectureship only either in Population Studies or its interdisciplinary subjects will be awarded the Government of India fellowship @ Rs.25,000/- per month for first and second years and Rs.28,000/- per month for the third and fourth years respectively. Each fellowship carries a contingency grant of Rs.10,000/- for the first two years and Rs.20,500/- for the third year. However, the candidates without NET qualification for lectureship shall be awarded the Government of India fellowship @ Rs.12,000/- p.m. for first and second years and Rs.14,000/- p.m. for third year respectively with an annual contingency grant of Rs.10,000/-.

Qualification: Candidates having Ph.D. degree in Population Studies or subjects related with population, health, gender and development. Desirable: Good publication in peer reviewed journal, publication of books and research reports. The upper age limit is 40 years as on 30.6.2017.
Fellowship : The selected Indian candidates will be awarded a Government of India fellowship initially for one year only and is extendable for one more year on genuine case. Each eligible candidate will be awarded the Government of India fellowship @ Rs.50,000/- per month.
Selection Criteria: Selection will be made on the basis of performance of the candidates in online test (on Population Studies, Research Methodology and Proposal writing) and personal interview. The Institute gives preference to admit to its Ph.D. Programme, candidates who have M.Phil in Population Studies. Only short-listed candidates will be called for the interview. The Institute shall not bear any travel expense of the candidates called for the presentation and interview.
