JOBDESCRIPTION
Title Senior Professional (Human Resources) with 6+ years’ experience
Location As per the discretion of OMC Engagement Period One year from the date of
commencement. To be
renewed yearly, basis
requirement of OMC and
satisfactory performance.
Job Purpose The Senior Professional (Human Resources) is responsible to contribute in
organization performance by providing guidance & support on people and
organization development strategies and align the business objectives with
employee and management in designated business unit. Performs HR related
duties while supporting the complex business units along with the leadership at
Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC). The scope of the role would include the
following functional areas: industrial relations and administration; contract labor
management; employee and union relations; statutory compliances; talent
acquisition; aligning activities with organizational design and change
management; employee development initiatives; policy interpretation and
application, learning & development and talent management.
# Broad Responsibilities of the role
1 Assess and anticipate human resource related issues
2 Assist the key stakeholders in mapping and carrying out business process re –
engineering of all current and planned business processes
3 Mapping of the roles and responsibilities of the existing/engaged manpower in OMC
(including contractual workforce) and identify the capacities to be strengthen
4 Participate in manpower planning & budgeting exercise for Head Office, Regional Offices/
Mines/Units/Camps with a focus on productivity and optimum utilization of manpower
5 Support in preparation, deliberation and approval of organization restructuring, design
and change
6 Provides guidance and input on workforce and succession planning
7 Conduct training need analysis and identify training needs for individuals and respective
business units at OMC. Assist the department of training for preparation of Annual
Training Calendar.
8 Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows
up to ensure that the training objectives are met

9 Expertise in management of contracts & contract labor and other statutory compliances
related to mining including, registration of the establishment/ license of the contractor
and verification of bills & statutory documents. Agency/contractor and verification.
10 Skill of addressing/ redressing employee grievances within the framework of OMC
policies & rules
11 Liaison activities with local statutory and government bodies.
12 Expertise in dealing with Unions and settlements.
13 Management of legal issues, domestic enquiries & disciplinary actions, etc.
14 Management of staff welfare activities like canteens & other facilities etc.
15 Commissioning services, projects or activity that supports the delivery of HR and
departmental strategies and objectives; working with third party providers to
ensure that services meet business needs and are delivered to agreed standards
and timelines.
16 Develop and Design Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for critical activities
17 Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation
18 Collects and compiles HR metrics and data from a variety of sources including the human
resource information system (HRIS) and payroll outputs, management and employee
surveys, exit interviews, employment records, government labor statistics, competitors’
practices, and other sources.
19 Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build
morale, increase productivity and enhance employee engagement.
Essential Educational/Professional Qualification and Work Experience
Academics Experience
PMIR or IRPM or MBA/ PGDBM(HR)from
recognized institute/university
6 years plus post qualification experience in
relevant industry and experience in Personnel
functions such as Talent Acquisition,
Manpower Planning, Capacity Building and
Business Process Re – engineering, Job Analysis
and Organization Restructuring, Compliance
Management, HRMIS, Industrial & Employees
Relations, Contract Management and Learning
& Development etc.
Experience in Mining & Manufacturing industry
will be preferred.

1 Working knowledge of multiple human resource and industrial relations disciplines,
including organizational diagnosis, organization restructuring and change management,
capacity building, employee and union relations, talent acquisition, learning &
development
Should have working knowledge of mining laws and comprehensive knowledge on labor
laws
2 Excellent team management skills
3 Excellent written & verbal communication skills – English
4 Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PPT etc.)
5 Excellent people management skills
