JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Head of Nutrition and School feeding, the Programme Policy Officer for School Feeding/Mid-Day Meals will be responsible for the portfolio of WFP’s work to support enhancement of the Government of India’s Mid-Day Meals scheme while also ensuring this work within the WFP Regional Implementation Plan for the Corporate School Feeding Strategy.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
Contribute towards the development of a wide variety of projects, plans and processes around school feeding/mid-day meals, ensuring alignment with wider programme policies and guidance.
Provide project management support to programmes and projects of considerable size/complexity with a focus on school feeding/mid-day meals, ensuring a coordinated approach with wider programmes that complies with WFP standards and procedures.
Develop and coordinate data gathering and monitoring systems around school feeding/mid-day meals.
Research and analyse a range of policy and operational issues around school feeding/mid-day meals to inform the development of policies, programmes and activities.
Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reporting on school feeding/mid-day meals programmes and activities that enable consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
Liaise with internal and external counterparts to ensure effective collaboration around school feeding/mid-day meals.
Support the identification, development and management of potential partnerships to collaborative working around school feeding/mid-day meals.
Support the capacity building of WFP staff, partners and national government around school feeding/mid-day meals, through providing inputs into training materials.
Guide junior staff, acting as a point of referral and supporting them with analysis and queries.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Experience: At least 7 years of progressively responsible work experience preferably on school feeding and working with/ in partnership with Government .
Has deepened technical knowledge around school feeding/mid-day meals, including education, development programming and behavior change.
Has taken leadership of implementing programmes.
Has provided input into policy discussions and decisions.
Has experience in preparing funding proposals, academic research and reporting, and communications materials.
Education: Advanced University degree in: Nutrition/Health, Education, Agriculture, Social Sciences or other field relevant to school feeding/mid-day meals, or First University Degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.
Language: Fluency in English and Hindi language; other national languages of India will be an asset.
Mode Of Engagement
The salary for this position is INR. 21,92,953/- per annum (depending upon the last drawn remuneration of the candidate), plus medical benefits as per WFP's plan.
All tax liability for payments from this contract are to be borne by the subscriber.
