Job Description
ICRISAT invites applications from dynamic and Indian nationals for the post of Programmer. This position is based at ICRISAT Headquarters, Patancheru, Telangana, India.
Competencies: Proficiency in Computer Programming and Statistical Analysis (preferably R and/or related languages),Automation of data processing, analysis (e.g. image analysis, data conversions, model runs). Proficiency in designing /developing databases for storing data sets in Access with SQL querying. Knowledge of GIS, remote-sensing techniques (e.g. ArcGIS, SpaceSTAT),Basic understanding of the plant biology is a plus, Web-site maintenance.
Desirable: M.Sc./MTech/MCA/IIT in Computer Science / ICT in agriculture with Programming knowledge. Proficient in MS Excel/ MS Access,Good programming knowledge (R, C++ or similar, Java and writing Macros). Relevant experience in Running models and GIS software,Knowledge in writing simple programs to automate the data treatments in required formats, met analysis, Good team player, excellent communication & social skills.
