Project Assistant Astronomy recruitment in Inter University
Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune, India.
Qualification & Experience: First class B.Sc. (Astronomy/Physics/Mathematics) or B.E. from a recognised University (M.Sc. and/or B.Ed. will carry further weightage). Good knowledge of Astronomy is a must.
Desirable: I. Ability to cheerfully communicate about Astronomy in English, Hindi and Marathi (both written and verbal). II. Ability to handle telescopes of different kinds. III. Computer skills including proficiency in using Office software and internet based outreach tools. IV. A positive scientific attitude with good social and team management skills.
Experience: I. 2 to 3 years’ experience in Science popularisation/ Amateur astronomy/ Telescope making. II. Some experience in large-scale activities involving teachers and school students.
Duties / Responsibilities: 1. Developing, scheduling, publicizing and conducting astronomy outreach activities including workshops for schools & colleges, stage events, sky-watching sessions, mobile planetarium shows, social media events etc. 2. Liaising with astronomers and preparation of astronomy outreach resources. 3. Helping conduct regular IUCAA outreach activities, its documentation etc.
Salary Pay: Consolidated starting salary of Rs. 25,000/- p. m.
No. of Post: One post (On contract)
Duration of Contract: 06 months extendable to 03 years
Age Limit: 35 years (Including relaxation as per Govt. norms)
