Job Description

Candidates are invited to appear for online interview before a selection committee for filling up the purely temporary positions in the following projects/schemes under the supervision of  Dr. Gopaljee Jha, Scientist, NIPGR. The details of the positions are as under:

A. NIPGR Short term research fellowship.

Name of Position: Senior Research Fellow (one post): Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms and as sanctioned in the project.

Qualification:  Candidates selected through National Eligibility Tests as mentioned in the DST Office Memorandum number SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated January 30, 2019. Candidates having M.Sc./M.Tech degree (with minimum 60% marks) in Life Sciences/Agriculture/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology/Bioinformatics or equivalent and minimum of two years of post M.Sc./M.Tech research experience are eligible for interview. Candidate having prior experience in the area of Plant tissue culture and plant-microbe interactions and having relevant publication will be preferred.


(B)  DBT project entitled “Genome engineering to upscale the production of a broad spectrum anti-fungal protein Bg_9562 in Escherichia coli”.

Name of Position: Research Associate-I (one post): Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms and as sanctioned in the project.

Qualification: Candidates having Ph.D. degree in Life Sciences/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology or related field are eligible to apply. Candidates having M.Tech in Biotechnology/Bioinformatics with three years post-M.Tech research experience and one research publication can also apply as mentioned in DST office memorandum number SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated January 30, 2019. Candidates having research experience in the area of molecular biology, protein purification, functional genomics will be preferred.


(C) DBT Flagship Project entitled 'Imparting sheath blight disease tolerance in rice'.

Name of Position: Research Associate-III (one post): Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms and as sanctioned in the project.

Qualification: Candidates having Ph.D. degree in Life Sciences/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology or related field are eligible to apply. Candidates having M.Tech in Biotechnology/Bioinformatics with three years post-M.Tech research experience and one research publication can also apply as mentioned in DST office memorandum number SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated January 30, 2019. Candidates having research experience in the area of molecular biology, functional genomics, bioinformatics, genomics-assisted breeding duly supported with relevant publications will be preferred.

The above positions are completely on temporary basis and co-terminus with the project. The fellowship/emolument amount for the above positions are as sanctioned in the project and as per DBT/DST norms. The initial appointment will be for one year or till the tenability of the project whichever is earlier and the same can be curtailed/extended on the basis of assessment of the candidate's performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. 

NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above post depending upon the qualification and experience of the candidate. Reservation of posts shall be as per Govt
. of India norms. The appointment may be terminated any time by giving one month notice by either side. The applicants will have no claim implicit or explicit for consideration against any regular position of NIPGR.
