University of Hyderabad (UoH) invites application for the position Research Associate I
No of Post: 01
Fellowship / Honorarium / Salary / Stipend in Rs.: Rs. 47,000 p.m.. The IOE/UoH rules will apply in terms of tax deductions, etc.
HRA, if applicable: HRA@24%; will be subject to the UoH rules
Tenure of the Post: Initially for one year, but extendable based on the performance.
Essential Qualifications:
i. A Doctorate degree from a recognized University in Meteorology/Atmospheric Sciences/Physical Oceanography or related sciences with Meteorology/Oceanography as main subject.
ii. Demonstrable experience in using regional ocean models such as the MIT GCM, ROMS. Exposure to applications to ocean biogeochemistry/estuarine dynamics will be an advantage.
iii. Should be able to port the regional model onto the HPC and conduct experiments.
iv. Well acquainted in computer programming in Fortran, C, shell programming, etc., and experience on Linux/UNIX platforms.
v. Publications in standard peer-reviewed journals related to atmospheric/oceanic/climate sciences,.
vi. Knowledge of Ocean circulation in the NIO, and the relevance of monsoon
vii. Demonstrated skill in data analysis using GrADS/Ferret/NCL/CDO/MATLAB.
Desirable Qualifications: Peer-reviewed publications in standard journals such as the JGR, JPO, Climate Dynamics, GRL, etc., listed in SCOPUS. Motivation and enthusiasm to carry out frontline research and publish in top journals, and ability to write research manuscripts independently.
Experience: Those who have with minimum of three years research experience post MSc/BE and submitted their thesis (or and about to submit the PhD thesis in a few months) are also eligible.
