Job Description
Applications are invited for eleven (11) temporary positions i.e. Research Associate (03), Junior Research Fellow for the ‘Centre of Excellence’ research project entitled funded by Ministry of Science & Technology, Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India entitled “Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation for a Climate Resilient North East India” under the National Mission for Sustaining the Himalayan Ecosystem (NMSHE) under the Principal Investigator Dr. Ashalata Devi, Department of Environmental Science, Tezpur University
Position: 03 (three) Research Associate (RA)
Research Associate (Post no. 1) Essential qualification: The applicant should have Ph.D. in Environmental Science/ Forestry/Botany/Zoology
Desirable: Expert in plant taxonomy and biosystematics/wildlife conservation. Experience in field data collection and survey techniques; ecology and conservation of threatened flora and fauna in Indian Himalayan Region. Experience of handling in remote sensing & GIS software, Ecological modelling like, MaxEnt Model and data analysis and interpretation.
Research Associate (Post no. 2) Essential qualification: The applicant should have Ph.D. in Agriculture/Environmental Science with minimum 4 years of experience in techniques for analyzing plant and soil samples for various physiological and biochemical plant parameters and estimation of greenhouse gases from agro-ecosystem. Desirable: Proficiency in handling field experiments with crops, sample collection, data handling and report writing.
Research Associate (Post no.3) Essential qualification: The applicant should have PhD in Physical/Mathematical/Environmental Sciences. Desirable: Experience of handling Environmental/ Weather simulation models. A proficiency in Python and R software programming. Fellowship: Rs.47,000/- (Rupees forty seven thousand) only per month. 8%HRA will be admissible as per rules, if no accommodation is provided by the institute. Age limit: Age of the candidates should not be more than 40 years as on the stipulated last date of receiving applications in response to advertisement. The upper age limit may be relaxed as per Government of India rules. Position: 06 (Six) Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Junior Research Fellow (3 Post)
Essential qualification: The applicant should have M.Sc. with a minimum of 55 % marks or equivalent CGPA in
Environmental Science/Forestry/ Botany/Zoology/Ecology any other relevant disciplines with NET/GATE.
Desirable: Candidate with working experience/ specialization in plant taxonomy/entomology, forest ecology and
willing to undertake extensive fieldwork in different forest types of Northeast India. Experience of handling in remote
sensing & GIS software’s, and data analysis and interpretation. Energetic, good analytical skills and capable of
working both independently and as part of a team will be preferred considering the job requirement.
Junior Research Fellow (2 Post) Essential qualification: The applicant should have M.Sc. with a minimum of 55 % marks or equivalent CGPA in in Agriculture /Botany/Environmental Science with NET/GATE. Desirable: Minimum two years of experience in handling experiments with agricultural crops in the field. Energetic, good analytical skills and capable of working both independently and as part of a team will be preferred considering the job requirement.
Junior Research Fellow (1 Post) Essential qualification: The applicant should have M.Sc. with a minimum of 55 % marks or equivalent CGPA in Mathematical Sciences/Physical Sciences/Geology/Environmental Science/with NET/GATE.
Desirable: Candidate with working experience/ specialization in Ecological modeling/ Statistical modeling/ Weather forecasting or Climate simulation and also willing to undertake extensive fieldwork in different forest types of Northeast India will be given additional preference. Energetic, good analytical skills and capable of working both independently and as part of a team will be preferred considering the job requirement.
