Job Description
Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the purely temporary positions of (1) one Research Associate in the ICAR-NASF funded project, (2) One Junior Research Fellow/Project Associate-I(JRF/PA-I) in the scheme of “Short-Term Research Fellowship/Post-Doctorate Fellowship” programme of the Institute and (3) one Senior Research Fellow/Project Associate-II (SRF/PA-II) in the DBT-SERB project under the supervision of Dr. Senthil-Kumar Muthappa, Scientist-IV, NIPGR.
1. Name of Position: Research Associate (RA) 01 post. (Emoluments as per ICAR norms)
Eligibility: Candidates having a PhD degree in the discipline of Life Sciences (including Plant Molecular Biology/Plant Pathology) with strong publication record can apply. Candidate must have knowledge/work experience in plant virology. Candidates having prior experience in microscopy techniques/virus localization along with experience in working with Begomovirus/other Geminivirus will be preferred.
2.Name of the Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) / Project Associate-I (PA-I) 01 post (Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms)
Eligibility: Candidates having Master’s degree in bioinformatics/computational biology/life science with at least 55% (or equivalent) marks in master degree can apply. Candidates with NET and also those who qualify as per the criteria mentioned in the DST Office Memorandum number SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated January 30, 2019 can apply. The candidate is required to have knowledge in HTML/CSS scripting, MySQL, PHP and basics of Javascript. Prior work experience in R programming language, machine learning, dynamic or interactive database development, large scale data visualization and big data analysis is preferred.
3.Name of the Position: Senior Research Fellow (SRF) / Project Associate-II (PA-II) 01 post (Emoluments as per DST-SERB norms)
Eligibility: Candidates having Master’s degree in bioinformatics/computational biology/life science with at least 55% (or equivalent) marks in master degree and a minimum of two year of post M.Sc. research experience can apply. Candidates with NET and also those who qualify as per the criteria mentioned in the DST Office Memorandum number SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated January 30, 2019 can apply.
The candidate is required to have knowledge in HTML/CSS scripting, MySQL, PHP and basics of Javascript. Prior work experience in R programming language, machine learning, dynamic or interactive database development, large scale data visualization, big data analysis and along with demonstrated ability of phenomics/transcriptomics-based database development is preferred.

The Fellowship amount for the above positions is at par with the similar fellowships by DBT/DST and as sanctioned in the project. The above positions are completely on temporary basis and co-terminus with the Scheme/Project. The initial appointment will be for a period of one year or till the tenability of the Scheme/Project whichever is earlier, which can be curtailed or extended based on the performance of the candidate and discretion of the Competent Authority. NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above posts depending upon the qualifications and experience of the candidate. Reservation of posts shall be as per Govt. of India norms. The position may be terminated any time by giving a month notice by either side. The applicants will have no claim implicit or explicit for consideration against any regular position of NIPGR.
