Essential Qualification : Ph. D. in Microbiology/Biotechnology/Bioche mistry/ Life Sciences OR M.Sc. in Microbiology /Biotechnology/Biochemistry/ Life Sciences with 4 years/ 5 years of Bachelor’s degree having 1st Division or 60% marks or equivalent overall grade point average with at least two years of research experience as evidenced from Fellowship/ Associateship/ Training / other engagements.
Candidates having post graduate degree in Basic Sciences with 3 years Bachelor’s degree and 2 years Master’s degree should have N.E.T. qualification* and at least two years of research experience.

Desirable: 1. Experience in isolation and molecular characterization of soil microorganisms; soil enzymes and molecular markers of soil health. 2. Good knowledge of advanced instrumental soil chemical and biological analysis, laboratory and field work, computers, data analysis, report preparation.

*As regards, NET examination, any national level examination conducted by the Central Govt. Departments/ agencies for admission to Ph. D. programme are considered as NET for the purpose of RA/SRF.

The following are some of the NET examinations:  CSIR-CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test : MHRD-Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering admission. DBT-Biotechnology Eligibility Test & Test conducted in Bioinformatics by Bioinformatics National Consortium.  DAE-JEST & JGEEBILS, NBHM  ICMR-JRF Entrance Examination  ICAR-Test conducted by ICAR for admission to Ph. D. programme.  DoP-GPAT.

Age limit :For  Research Associate is 40 years for Men & 45 years for Women & for Senior Research Fellow is 35 years for Men and 40 years for women (relaxation of age in case of SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates as per Government norms).

Pay Scale : Rs. 40000/- (fixed) + HRA for Doctoral Degree Holders and Rs.38000/- (fixed) + HRA for Master Degree Holders.
