Qualification and Experience:
- Ph.D, in life sciences with 3-5 years post-doctoral research experience
- Experience in generation and maintenance of iPSCs is desirable. If the selected candidate does not have experience in iPSCs an initial 6 months training will be provided. However, a strong background in techniques for in vitro cell culture of primary cells is required.
- Experience in cell banking and good manufacturing practice (GMP) will be an advantage
Responsibilities: The selected scientist will join the
faculty scientists and technical staff working in this area to generate,
characterize and bank iPSCs. After initial training and supervision, as needed,
the scientist should be able to manage the facility independently with the
support staff and participate in
further research involving iPSCs.
Duration: Initial appointment will be for three years.
Depending on the performance in the initial three years, a long-term position
may be possible.
Salary: Salary will be commensurate with experience

About Company
The Centre for Stem Cell Research (CSCR) has
a head appointed by the Director, Christian Medical College that is
responsible for the overall management of the Centre. Alok Srivastava,
Professor of Medicine and Head of the Department of Haematology at the
Christian Medical College, Vellore is currently the head of CSCR. He is
advised by a Core Committee of faculty of the Christian Medical College
consisting of the following members - B.S. Ramakrishna (Professor of
Gastroenterology), Anna Oommen (Senior Scientist) - Retired, Molly Jacob
(Professor of Biochemistry) and Vikram Mathews (Professor of
Haematology). A Steering Committee chaired by the Director, Christian
Medical College and made up of the administrative officers of the
Christian Medical College as well as the Core Committee members guides
policies for CSCR.
