Senior Environmental Specialist (Health, Safety and Environment Safeguard) job Position in Department of Water Supply and Sanitation - Govt. of Punjab on contract basis

Qualification : Masters in Environment Science/ Botany/ Zoology/ Chemistry/ Solid Waste Management M. Tech. In Env. Engineering with B.Tech. in Civil/ Chemical Engineering.

Experience : At least 10 years experience after Masters in Sciences or 9 years experience after M.Tech. out of which at least 2 years should be in the area of water supply & sanitation/EIA/Environment Management

Desirable : Ph.D/M. Phil in Environment Science/Engineering/Botany (specialization – Ecology)/Zoology (specialization – Ecology)/Environmental Chemistry or MBA. Minimum One year PG Diploma in Ecology and Environment/ Industrial Health, Safety and Environment/ Environment Management. Knowledge of Punjabi (preferably Matriculation). Comprehensive knowledge of Environmental Law, Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare Act, Regulations and Codes of Practice, Labour Law, Liquid Waste Management, Disinfection of Drinking Water, Surface Water and Ground Water Supply Schemes, Onsite and Offsite Sanitation Technology options,etc. Working knowledge of MS Office, Power Point, MS Excel

Salary : Rs.1,00,000/- p.m. (Negotiable)+ Travelling allowance on actual basis The candidate should be willing to travel extensively in rural areas.

Age Limit : Not less than 40 years (relaxable in case of exceptional candidates). Retired persons may apply.

Department of Water Supply and Sanitation was initially known a Public Health Branch of PWD which came into existence in the year 1956. Prior to that it was functioning as a part of Building and Roads Branch. The department was responsible for all types of Public Health Engineering Works viz. Water Supply and Sanitary installation in Government Buildings/Institutions and Public Health Engineering works in Urban Estate, grain markets etc. In the year 1975, functions of Punjab PWD(Public Health Branch) were vertically split up into three wings viz. Govt. Works, Rural Water Supply Works and Works of Local Body department.
