Senior Project Officer- Rangeland Conservation Job opportunity in WWF-India

Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Required:
- Masters Degree preferably in Natural Resource Management, Wildlife Studies, Environmental studies, or a related field.
- Physically fit and enthusiastic young biologist (to work in rugged terrain involving intensive fieldwork) with knowledge of high altitude Himalayas.
- Working knowledge of Ladakhi and Hindi preferable.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assess impacts of changing grazing and animal husbandry practices on critically important rangelands in PirPanjal and Ladakh regions of Himalayas.
- Develop and implement a scalable model for a functional rangeland/pasture management
- Develop Community Based Tourism activities in the Changthang Plateau to manage tourism
- Design and implement strategies for value addition for traditional handicrafts
- and bring economic benefits to local communities.
- Raise awareness amongst local communities to garner support for conservation & sustainable management of rangelands
