The Sálim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History (SACON) is a Centre of Excellence under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, in the field of Ornithology and Natural History.
Name of the Position: Senior Research Biologist /(1 No)
Age: Shall not exceed 32 years as 21.01.2020
Emoluments: Rs. 35,000/per month plus HRA as applicable;
Essential Qualification: Masters’ Degree in Zoology / Wildlife Science / Wildlife Biology/ Life Science from a recognized University with a minimum of 55% marks or above and two years of research experience in relevant field with proven records of data analysis and scientific publications; Desirable Qualification: Working knowledge on statistical modeling, data analysis and GIS

Age: Below 28 years as on 21.01.2020; the upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST and 3 years for /OBC/Women/Physically challenged category
Emoluments: Rs. 31,000/ per month plus HRA as applicable
Essential Qualification: Minimum 55% marks in Masters’ Degree in Zoology / Wildlife Science/Ecology/Biodiversity Science/Environmental Science/ Environmental Management/Life Sciences with a minimum of 55% or above from a recognized University; Desirable Qualification: Knowledge/work experience in animal behavior studies
1. “Spatial mapping of the landscape under GoI-GEF-UNDP India High Range Mountain Landscape Project, Munnar, Kerala”
Name of the Position: Junior Research Biologist (01 No.)
Age: Below 28 years as on 21.01.2020; the upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST and 3 years for OBC/Women and Physically Challenged category as per Central Government norms
Emoluments: : Rs. 31,000/per month plus HRA (for the NET qualified candidates) or 25,000/per month plus HRA (for the non-NET qualified candidates)
Essential Qualification: Masters’ Degree (MSc/M Tech) in Geographical Information System and Remote Sensing/ Geoinformatics/Spatial Technology or MSc/MA in Geography with PG Diploma in Geographical Information System and Remote Sensing from a recognized University with a minimum 55% marks or above;
Desirable Qualification: Knowledge/work experience in high resolution remote sensing data and research projects on Natural Resource Management, Forestry or Environmental Sciences and willingness to work in hilly terrain; Description of Work: The selected candidate is expected to undertake spatial mapping using high resolution data of the project area and assist the Principal Investigator in other project activities.

Desirable Qualification: i) Familiarity with molecular tools and laboratory work especially related to Next Generation Sequencing Techniques. ii) Knowledge of wildlife biology or Conservation Science; Description of Work: The selected candidate is expected to conduct laboratory work as per the requirements of the project.
