Ph.D. Program Mechanical Engineering conducts Shiv Nadar University

The Mechanical Engineering Department in the School of Engineering at Shiv Nadar University  invites applications for admission in the Ph.D. program.

Broad Research Areas: Mechanics: Modeling, Experimentation, & Computation Computational Structural and Fracture Mechanics, Mechanics of Solids, Nonlinear material models, Functionally Graded Materials, Composite Structures. Thermodynamics & Energy Renewable Energy (Solar Energy) Nanomaterials and Biomedical Engineering Nanomedicine for Cancer Theranostics / Magnetic Nanoparticles based Drug Delivery Systems Robotics, Mechatronics & Control Biomimetic robotics. Tribology Fluid Film Lubrication, hydrostatic and Hydrodynamic Bearing, Coriolis Mass Flow Measuring Devices, Advanced Materials for tribological application, Wear & Friction at Macro/micro/nano scale.

Eligibility : 1. ME/MTech degree in Mechanical / Aeronautical / Aerospace / Automobile /Industrial Engineering/Material Science and Engineering/Nano Science and Technology* /Structures, with a minimum of 60% marks or an equivalent grade point from a recognized technical institute or university. AND B. Tech/BE. in Mechanical/Aerospace or relevant Discipline. Candidates who have qualified for GATE are highly preferred. OR 2. B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering with exceptional academic credentials, good GATE score and strong aptitude for research. Applicants waiting for the qualifying examination results are also eligible to apply.

Note : Candidate with M.Sc degree in Nano science and Technology is also eligible to apply for Ph.D in Nano Science and Technology

Selection Process : The eligibility criteria mentioned above are minimum standards and applications not meeting the same will be summarily rejected. Short-listed candidates will be required to demonstrate their knowledge through an on-site written test and interview, to be held in May 2016. Selections will be based on past academic performance, written examination and/or interview. Please note that not all candidate meeting the minimum eligibility criteria may be shortlisted.

Application Fees : Candidates will be required to pay a non-refundable application fees of Rs. 1,200 (One Thousand Two Hundred Only) by credit/debit card or Demand Draft drawn in favor of Shiv Nadar University payable at NOIDA.

Financial Assistance: All candidates admitted to the Ph.D. program will receive teaching/research assistantships of INR 35,000 per month along with tuition fee waiver, and hostel fee waiver as given in table. The assistantship is subject to satisfactory performance in the program evaluated continuously, and compliance with all University regulations.
