Sr Developer
Rackspace is looking for an experienced Java developer. Experience with Web APIs is a must-have along with Database exposure.
This is a senior developer position! Bring your ability to learn the Rackspace ecosystem and help lead the technical direction for a product. Be able to read high-level requirements from Product, ask lots of questions and then run with the implementation.
What are your day to day responsibilities?
Coding standards, continuous integration, best practices, software testing, and proper documentation
The work is highly involved and requires regular interaction with a number of different teams across Rackspace. Being able to understand business processes and communicate effectively is an integral part of the role on the team.
The team currently works a number of open technologies, including multiple HTTP APIs written in Python web frameworks which interact primarily with MSSQL and MySQL databases.
Design, build, and maintain in-house developed tools, scripts, and applications.
Required Skills
3-5 years of experience in software development or engineering utilizing Java
Proficient in HTTP web services and RESTful software design.
Experience in Java, GIT, Maven, Spring REST, Selenium WebDriver, Jenkins, GIT
Experience with one or more relational databases (e.g. MySQL, MSSQL).
High level of competency in continuous integration and continuous deployments (any technology).
Strong development and engineering principles, including:code coverage, test-first programming.
Code readability,documentation, understanding of revision control systems (git)
Desired Skills
Proficiency with web server software (e.g. Apache, NGINX) .
experience in agile development methodology/ Scrum
Desired Skills
Proficiency in Linux system administration.
Proficiency with web server software (e.g. Apache, NGINX) .
Job Complexity
Performs highly complex product design activities, which may require extensive research and analysis.
Performs design, implementation, and maintenance of complex, multiple product modules/sub-systems.
Participates in product design meetings.
Performs complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products.
Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions to the problems.
Conducts unit testing and integration testing for functionality and limits. May assist in performing on-site client work on complex applications. Documentation of development work.
Researches and understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria, and competitive issues. Researches new technology or development tools to remain informed of current technology.
