Position: Software Engineer II- GCP DevOps 

Location: Pune / Bangalore , India

The Software Engineer II- GCP DevOps will report to the Director, CSPM Engineering. Zscaler is looking for a Software Engineer II who possesses a balance of technical proficiency, business knowledge, with strong communication skills. The Engineer will work closely with customers to understand their technology and business needs, and then design scalable, highly-available, and resilient cloud solutions based on these business needs. The Engineer will work closely with other team members to implement these solutions for customers, this may include other Senior Cloud DevOps Engineers, DevOps Architects, and Security Architects as needed for customer solution implementation of Cloud services and solutions.

Responsibilities/What You’ll Do

• Experience in implementing cloud architecture for software applications.
• Designing and building infrastructure to support our GCP based Cloud services and infrastructure using any few of CLI, Terraform, Python, PowerShell and/or Bash.
• Creating and utilizing tools to monitor our applications and services in the cloud including security posture, alerts, trend identification, and anomaly detection
• Deploy, automate, maintain and manage production system and services, to ensure the availability, performance, scalability, and security of productions systems
• Working with development teams to help engineer scalable, reliable, and resilient software running in the cloud.
• Analyzing and monitor performance bottlenecks and key metrics to optimize software and system performance.
• Provide rapid troubleshooting, remediation, and root cause analysis of production issues
• Keep up with the industry to continually improve the technology stack
• Build, release and configuration management of production systems
  
  

Qualifications/Your Background

• Technical degree (Computer Science or Math) or equivalent professional experience
• Overall 4+ years of experience with a minimum of 2+ years experience in GCP Cloud
• Extensive experience with GCP Services and associated technologies CLI / Terraform / Ansible / Linux / Bash / Scripting, etc.
• Designing solutions using one or more GCP features, tools, and technologies such as Google Compute VM Instances, Storage, Persistent Disks, Storage Nearline, VPC, Load Balancer, Cloud Functions, SQL, Cloud Spanner, interconnect, etc.
• Experience in using automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, CLI, CSP REST APIs, etc. to provision Cloud infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience in any one of CICD tools like Jenkins, AzureDevOps, Travis, etc.
• Experience in designing and implementing containerization using Docker or Kubernetes.
• Good understanding of microservices and serverless architecture.
• Hands-on experience in Cloud monitoring and troubleshooting services.
• Experience towards GCP security services like Google Command Center, Cloud Armor, Cloud HSM, Web Risk API, etc.
• Strong experience in automating Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and Agile practices for a highly scalable system
• Demonstrable understanding of DevOps practices and/or environments. Working effectively with software development teams
• Strong communication skills – must be able to communicate effectively with technical staff and executives
• Passionate about building great products, a great communicator of ideas & solutions and a lateral thinker when faced with complex performance or production issues
• Ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges
• Hands-on experience leading the design, development, and deployment of business software at scale or current hands-on technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization experience
• Familiarity with IT compliance and risk management requirements (e.g. security, PCI, Privacy, SOX, HIPAA etc.)
• GCP Certification preferred
• IaaS/PaaS Deployment experience in clouds like AWS, Microsoft Azure or other is a plus
• Ability to learn and understand new technologies quickly
• Think critically and are ready to challenge the status quo in a constructive way

• A flexible, can-do attitude with a willingness and aptitude for learning
