Software Engineer - ETL Development

The Data Management & Analytics (DM&A) organization is responsible for building the strategic, analytic data warehouse for Chase Financial Services and managing the Integrated Consumer Data Warehouse (ICDW), Consumer Data Hub (Info1), Big Data Platforms (Hadoop), and Unified Data Services. DM&A also provides direction for large data warehouses across the firm.

Software Engineers are key members of the team supporting the Data platforms heavily leveraging Hadoop and Greenplum. Candidates must be self-motivated with a strong background in technology and a proven ability to translate business needs into data rich, enabled applications and tools. Technical and intellectual curiosity is required, along with the ability to pick up concepts and techniques quickly in order to execute projects and solutions.

Technical debugging and problem resolution are important components of the position. As we work with diverse data, deep understanding of data architecture, ETL, and query optimization is required. While this role is primarily a developer role, it will require an understanding across all aspects of project life cycle.

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities including:
Responsibilities

• Work as senior member of the team responsible for architecture, design, development, testing, and implementation of applications and ETL for Big Data technology stack for variety of data driven projects ranging from analytics, warehouse to operational.
• Establish and drive adoption of best practices for application engineering, component re-use, architecture design and technical standards.
• Maintain awareness of new / emerging technologies and their potential application to existing or future service offerings.
• Provide technical leadership to the team and drive solutions to complex problems
• Promote and cultivate team spirit and culture across the global team built on open communication, collaboration, teamwork, trust and integrity
• Develop, lead and coordinate communications and relationships across multiple IT and product teams.
  
• Establish relationships with business partners, understand business processes, and promote business unit interests
• Proactively identify opportunities to streamline integrated job workflows, implement automation and monitoring solutions
• Prepare and present the regular management updates

Qualifications

• 8+ year of experience in Abinitio ETL, Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL, Unix Shell scripting..
  
• Knowledge on Big Data, Hadoop is a strong plus.
  
• Experience in mentoring Agile teams, implementing professional software engineering practices, implementing automated CI/CD environment leveraging DevOps best practices
  
• Experience in building end-to-end solution to migrate EDW on relational databases to modern data architecture leveraging Big data technologies
  
• Skilled in building the high-performance team. Proven leadership skills to attract, mentor and retain top IT talent and creating an environment that fosters excellence, collaboration and teamwork
  
• Ability to solve complex business problems and present recommendations to senior management effectively
  
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
