Expectations from the Role :

Diagnose the presence and stage of diseases using laboratory techniques and patient specimens. Study the nature, cause, and development of diseases.

Use a wide range of analytical and scientific techniques to monitor and study microbes such as algae, bacteria, fungi and viruses.

· Plan and conduct complex research projects, such as developing new drugs to combat infectious diseases

· Supervise the work of biological technicians and other workers and evaluate the accuracy of their results and also to train them on instrument operations, reagent handling, pre-analytics, LIS, reporting results and quality assessments.

· Plan and supervise the work of the pathology, biochemistry staff and department

· Identify the etilology, pathogenesis, morphological change and clinical significance of diseases

· Diagnose infections, such as hepatitis B, AIDs, by conducting the test to detect the antibodies, patient immune systems etc.

· Keep up with current knowledge by reviewing the findings of other researchers and by attending conferences

· Prepare technical reports, publish research papers, and make recommendations based on their research findings

· Assume and perform duties and responsibilities as defined by the Management and Long Term Care

· Diagnose diseases or study medical conditions using techniques such as pathology, histology, cytology, cytopathology, clinical chemistry, immunology, flow cytometry, molecular biology and biochemistry.

· To report to the lab director

· To review quality control for all analytes on a daily basis prior to processing of samples

· To review and sign results for all the tests reported
