Job Description
Education: GNM/Bsc Nursing
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES IN RELATED TO PATIENT CARE
1. Assess the needs of the patients in the ward and make nursing care plan for all patients in consultation with Ward In-charge Nursing.
2. Give direct patient care (changing of bed sheets, mouth care, back care, bed bathing, hair wash, changing of position, etc.) and allotted work to her by the Ward In-charge Nursing.
3. Fulfill all basic needs (hygienic need, nutritional need, etc.) of the patient.
4. Provide comfort to the patient and maintain safety of the patient.
5. Take proper handover from duty nurse of previous shift, regarding patients (bed to bed), instrument supplies, drugs etc. and hand over the same to the next shift.
6. Co-ordinate with Doctors, Laboratory, Pharmacy, X-Ray and Dietary Departments for patient care.
7. Administer prescribed medicines to correct patient, correct time, and correct dose and through correct route.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES IN RELATION TO WARD ADMINISTRATION
1. Ensure the ward is clean and tidy including bed.
2. Keep all nursing stationery well-arranged and maintain the inventory.
3. Take the report and bed to bed round at the time of changing of the shift.
4. Help the Head - Nursing for supervision of work of Housekeeping staff for maintenance of cleanliness and sanitation.
5. Keep a sub stock of drugs, linen and other supplies for ward maintenance.
6. Be vigilant to protect the patient from injury or accident by following all safety guidelines.
7. Keep up to date with nursing knowledge by taking part in in-service education programme.
8. Take part in all NABH and quality improvement activities.
9. Follow infection control guidelines at all time while working in ward.
