Sub Assistant Engineer Civil Jobs recruitment in Municipal Service Commission, Kolkata
No. of Vacancies : 40 Posts (U.R (P.H)-02, S.C. - 13, S.T. –
08, OBC(A)-09 , OBC(B)-08)
Qualification : Essential – i) A Diploma in Civil
Engineering from the State Council for Engineering or Technical Education or
its equivalent. ii) One year’s practical Training or studying or research or
practical engineering experience in the Municipal Engineering work.
Salary : PB-4 Rs.9000- 40500/-G.P. –4400/-
Age : Age not more than 40 years

1) Application Fee for General, O.B.C.(A) and
O.B.C.(B) candidates is Rs. 150/- (Rupees One hundred and fifty) plus
processing charges Rs. 50/- (Rupees Fifty) plus Rs. 20/- (Rupees Twenty)
towards Bank Charges for Challan deposit.
2) For S.C., S.T. and P.H. candidates only processing
charges of Rs. 50/- (Rupees fifty) plus Rs. 20/- (Rupees Twenty) towards Bank
Charges for Challan deposit.
3) The application fees plus processing charges as
mentioned in Para’s (1) and (2) above shall be collected by all the branches of
the United Bank of India and the same to be deposited to Account No.

Selection : The recruitment examination will be held
in two stages. 1. Written Test 2.Personality Test.
1. Written Test;- (200 marks) OMR based written
examination of multiple choice, Objective type of 100 questions carrying 2
(two) marks each will be conducted. There will be negative marking and 1(one)
mark will be deducted for each and every incorrect / wrong answer. Question
will be set in English and time allowed will be 2 (two) hours.
2. Personality Test/Interview (40 marks) :-
Candidates about 3(three) times of the vacancy will be called on merit basis
for Personality Test/Interview, Subject to obtaining qualifying marks @ 45% for
General Candidates, 40% for O.B.C. Candidates and @ 35% for S.C. & S.T
& Physically Handicapped Candidates.

Municipal Service Commission was first constituted under the Calcutta Municipal Corporation Act 1980, by a notification of the State Government dated 22nd March, 1984. Its predecessor however, was the Calcutta Municipal Service Commission which came into being with effect from January, 1954. This Commission therefore can be called an organisation with about 55 years of existence. Duties and functions of this Commission have emanated from the provisions of Sec. 19 of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation Act 1980 which reads as "Appointment to a Category A or a Category B post shall be made on the recommendation of the Municipal Service Commission"
