Project Title : “Isolation and Functional Characerization of Low Temperature Tolerance Responsive Genes From High Cold Tolerant Saccharum Spontaneum IND00-1061 Arunachal Pradesh Collection”
Qualification : M.Sc in Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Microbiology with experience in sugarcane transformation and molecular biology techniques. Desirable : Experience in Bioinformatics, designing and developing plant transformation vectors, plant tissue culture and genetics transformation, qualifications in CSIR-UGC NET or GATE (Biotech)

Sugarcane Breeding Institute, Coimbatore, India, one of the pioneering breeding institutes in the world was established in 1912, to evolve superior varieties of sugarcane to cater to the needs of the various agro climatic zones in the country. The Institute is located at Coimbatore (77oE longitude and 11oN latitude)in Southern India on the leeward side of Western Ghats at 427 metres above mean sea level and receives an annual average of rainfall of 800 mm, bulk of it during the months of October-December. The maximum and minimum temperatures range from 35.2oC and 21.7oC respectively.
