Database Services DBA Position :(Sr.System Engineer)

Position Summary

Candidate will work closely with database and system administrators to ensure all Client's mission and business critical databases and applications are performing optimally. Primary responsibilities include database administration activities including: working with developers and define database objects; 24/7 support; backup and recovery; patches; upgrades; software installation; database schema changes and tuning. Successful candidate must be able to apply database administration knowledge to design effective and optimal database layout; analyze and improve database performance. The candidate is expected to be a part of DBA on-call rotation schedule.

The ability to communicate technical / non-technical issues / solutions in a clear; concise and easy to understand manner is imperative; as the candidate may participate in technical and customer reviews and should be able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences. To be successful in Client's dynamic environment; qualified candidates must be self-motivated; work closely with others in a true team environment and able to define; plan and implement long term goals and tasks in support of Client's enterprise and Information Services departmental strategies and charter. Excellent problem solving; multitasking; troubleshooting skills; logical thinking and attention to detail are required to work in this challenging and dynamic environment. Ability to automate day today activities to ensure execution and consistent results; will be a key plus attribute.

Requirements And Skills

Education: B-Tech / MCA
Years of Experience: 8- 12 Years.
Key Skills: MySQL; MongoDB; Cassandra.

• L3/L4 experience with database platforms like MySQL; MongoDB and Cassandra which includes
• Administration and provisioning (SME Skills)
• Performance Tuning and management
• Backup; DR; Replication and HA
• Monitoring and observability (Native monitoring tools and open source tools like Prometheus)
• Configuration management (Preferably Salt; Ansible/Puppet/Chef)
• Automation and deployment Jenkins
• Coding and Scripting Python; PHP; Shell Node.js
• Security best practices
• Cloud Platforms AWS AZURE
• Strong OS ( AIX; Linux) concepts and fundamentals
• Strong Communication and Collaboration Skills
• Customer-Centric Mindset
  

Responsibilities of the job include; but are not limited to:

• Design; develop and administer business application databases and associated program software in current and future Database and Application Infrastructure including Application Hosting Technologies.
• Undertake performance monitoring and tuning; problem resolution; availability management; capacity management; change management and security access management to ensure the continuous provision of service of the database and integrated platform environments.
• Provide 24*7 support on rotation basis
• Provide advanced skills in the areas of fault diagnosis and failure and initiate remedial action as required in Database and Application Infrastructure environments.
• Perform complex backup and recovery tasks for database and applications infrastructure environments. Design the database recovery and backup policy and procedures in accordance with business requirements.
• Planning out strategies for DB migration; DB consolidation and driving it end to end.
• Provide a high level of technical expertise; advice and guidance on technology aspects of database and application delivery services to management and other technical staff.
• Strong documentation skills in documenting processes; procedures and tools descriptions.
• Responsible for maintaining strong partnerships and working relationships with dependent internal IT groups geographically
• Participate in and contribute to Release activities including Spec reviews.
• Understand and contribute to effective Monitoring of the critical components of the System.
• Drive the implementation of continuous improvement activities including new support tools and automation
• Ensure database security; integrity; and performance
• Proactive approach to database design; development; and management
• Recommend; implement; and maintain best practices and corporate standards
