Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Union is seeking qualified local candidates for four vacancies the position of Technical Consultant - Research (ICMR) that will support ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) for establishing the India TB Research Consortium (IRTC).

The post holders will work in coordination with the Deputy Regional Director - TB and Communicable Diseases, Union South - East Asia Office.

The Technical Consultants- Research (ICMR) shall be based at the ICMR Office and be responsible for establishing the interim Secretariat of the IRTC and for initiating relevant related activities for a period of one year.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

(1) Landscape analysis of TB research in India and globally.

(2) Data mining the current status of TB research in India and abroad.

(3) Assessing the status of current and upcoming latest research in the areas of TB diagnostics/ therapeutics/ vaccines/ Implementation Research.

(4) Analyzing and evaluating strategies undertaken nationally and globally to control TB and examining the scope of implementation in India.

(5) Contributing to the design of new strategies, collaborations and implementation plans to ensure long-term sustainability and impact.

(6) Interacting with scientists and others working in this field.

(7) Report writing/preparation of scientific/ financial documents.

(8) Working under team leader and completing the specialized tasks assigned in the related area of work; being responsible for finishing the assigned tasks on time.

(9) Coordinating with experts and facilitating review meetings of different thematic groups.

(10) Undertaking any other activity related to technical assistance on Research as assigned by Core Committee of TB Consortium/ Co-ordinator of TB Consortium at ICMR, Regional Director (The Union South-East Asia Office) and The Deputy Regional Director - TB and Communicable Diseases, (The Union South East Asia Office) in the interest of RNTCP and TB control programme in India.

(11) Performing other relevant duties as required by the Regional Director, The Union South-East Asia.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:        

Qualifications: 

(1) Ph.D. and Masters in Life Sciences, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Epidemiology, or relevant subject, from a recognized University or

(2) MBBS and MD (Microbiology, Medicine).

Experience:

Applicants must have 3-5 years of experience in biomedical research, particularly in TB and health related areas.

Skills and Competencies:

(1) Knowledge of computer applications or business intelligence tools/ data management / data synthesis.

(2) Good written and oral communication and presentation skills.

(3) Ability to work and deliver services on time without compromising on quality.

(4) Ability to work in a team environment.

(5) Agility and flexibility to perform a variety of tasks as and when required.

(6) Willingness to travel to programmatic areas as required.

DESIRABLE AGE: 35-45 years

CONTRACT TYPE: The successful candidate shall be offered a one-year contract with The Union.

COMPENSATION OFFERED: 

The gross remuneration budgeted for this position is attractive. Offers shall be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and salary history, of the selected candidate.
