Job Description
- Welding & Metallurgical Engineer candidate must be able to work in multidisciplinary, multicultural groups and also be able to pursue work independently.
- Operational support related to metallurgy and welding for upstream and downstream facilities (well sites, pipelines, gas plants, refineries, terminals, etc.)
- Cover welding aspects in incident investigations pertaining to operation facilities
- Evaluate welding and materials technologies for use and applicability on Saudi Aramco equipment
- Conduct technical assessment of manufacturing facilities and investigate production deficiencies
- Review of project design packages for material selection and welding and heat treatment procedures
- Provide consultation and review for capital project developments. Resolve project related welding and material problems and review project welding procedures
- Resolve welding and materials technical problems for operating facilities
- Conduct failure analyses of defective welded component to investigate the root causes and recommend corrective actions
- Develop repair welding procedures to maintain existing equipment and recover operations
- Cover material and welding aspects in incident investigations pertaining to SA projects Contribute in technical committees, internal and external
- BS and/or MS degree in metallurgical, welding, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
- At least 15 years of field experience in welding fabrication, manufacturing and welding and metallurgical consultations related to the oil and gas industry
- Able to work in multidisciplinary, multicultural groups and be able to pursue work independently
- Candidate must have been responsible for welding operations, selection of welding processes and consumables, qualification of personnel and resolution of welding problems
- Experience in qualifying and applying welding procedures in accordance with codes ASME IX, AWS D1.1 and API 1104
- Experience in GTAW, SMAW, SAW, FCAW, and GMAW
- Knowledge of carbon steel, low alloy steel, stainless steels, nickel and copper alloy systems
- Experience with non-destructive testing of welds and materials (RT, UT, MPI, LPT, etc.)
- Experience in all destructive testing of welds and materials including corrosion and fracture toughness
- Candidate must be knowledge of materials and failure mechanisms in the O&G industry
- Excellent written and spoken English language and good presentation skills. Excellent office computer skills
- Knowledge of refinery processes and gas plant operations
- Experience in fitness for purpose determinations per BS 7910 or API RP 579
