Duties and responsibilities of a dentist

The responsibility of a dentist is to take careful steps while diagnosing patients with any oral health condition and must be very careful while doing any medical procedure on the oral section. It involves a certain amount of risk and must practice caution on the job. 

  • Promotion of taking care of teeth

  • Removing cavities from teeth 

  • Recommending diet and food that could make their teeth stronger

  • Diagnosing oral issues and report it to their patients as well as to the hospital

  • Recording maintenance of clients’/patients’ data of oral history

Work schedule of a dentist

It is a 36 hours per week job but work may vary as per workload. Sometimes they work on weekends in their own personal chamber.


Qualifications required to become a dentist


A BDS degree is required which has 4 years of classrooms and 1 year of internship. A master degree is required for career advancement. Dental Council of India registration is required for legal safety.
