A recruiter is a part of the HRA (Human Resource Administration) department of a company and the duty of a recruiter is to seek out potential candidates from various reputed institutions who can be an asset to the company and accomplish goals set up by the company’s standards.
Duties and responsibilities of a Recruiter
A recruiter’s duty is extremely sensitive since they have to deal with the recruitment and selection of people. Any wrong mistake in selecting an unsuitable candidate can result getting blamed from the entire office staff and higher management. They have to carefully assess the performance of the candidates and filter out those individuals who do not match the criteria.
Collaboration with HR managers for recruitment and selection of suitable candidates
Visiting B-Schools and Engineering colleges for interviewing candidates for positions in respective companies
Background verifications of candidates to prevent damage or loss to the company
Create a point of attracting and sourcing suitable candidates through sources like newspapers (the Economic Times) and social media (LinkedIn)
Managing the relocation and internship programs of candidates working for the company
Checking payroll and payslip of candidates if any issue arises
Performance assessment of the hired candidates
Checking resumes/C.V. of candidates suitable for the job
Evaluating the work done by employees and interns within a given time frame
Maintaining discipline and work culture in an office environment

A recruiter’s working hours is usually 40 hours a week or 9AM to 5PM every week (Monday to Friday). Sometimes due to intense work pressure, they have to work overtime and even on Saturdays to update the company’s database related to work progress.
Qualifications required to become a Recruiter
Getting the job of a recruiter is not that easy because nowadays it requires a graduation degree and a few years of work experience. A post-graduate degree is necessary when there is 2 to 3 years of experience to apply as a senior HR manager.
