AC mechanic helper
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assistance in AC Installation:
-
Help technicians in installing air conditioning systems including window units, split systems, and central HVAC systems.

Carry and set up ladders, piping, ductwork, and other installation materials.
-
Assist in mounting and fixing indoor and outdoor units using appropriate tools and brackets.
-
Provide support in connecting electrical wiring and refrigerant lines under supervision.
2. Support During Maintenance and Repairs:
-
Assist in diagnosing AC problems and faults by observing system functions and taking guidance from the technician.
-
Hand tools and equipment to the technician during service calls.
-
Clean air filters, vents, coils, and other components during routine maintenance.
-
Remove and replace worn-out parts like belts, filters, or minor electrical components under guidance.
3. Material Handling and Inventory Management:
-
Transport tools, spare parts, and equipment to job sites.
-
Load and unload materials and equipment from company vehicles.
-
Help maintain inventory of materials and report shortages to the supervisor.

Ensure all tools and parts are accounted for after each service job.
4. Site Preparation and Cleanup:
-
Prepare the work site by laying out drop cloths, protecting furniture, and organizing tools.
-
Assist in cutting and measuring pipes or wires as instructed.

Clean up the work area after installation or repairs, including proper disposal of old parts and packaging materials.
5. Safety and Compliance:
-
Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) on-site.

Be aware of hazards such as electrical components, sharp tools, and refrigerants.

Ensure all tasks comply with local HVAC codes and company safety standards.

Report any unsafe conditions or incidents immediately to the supervisor.
6. Learning and Development:

Observe and learn HVAC practices and techniques during hands-on work.
-
Attend on-the-job training sessions or safety briefings.

Gain knowledge of basic HVAC systems, components, and tools.
