Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accessibility Tester Trainee to join our QA team. In this role, you will be trained to evaluate digital products such as websites, web applications, and mobile apps for compliance with global accessibility standards such as WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines), Section 508, and ADA.
As an Accessibility Tester Trainee, you will learn to identify and report accessibility barriers faced by users with disabilities, using both manual testing techniques and assistive technologies like screen readers, keyboard navigation, and color contrast tools. This role is ideal for candidates passionate about inclusive technology and interested in a growing, future-proof career in digital accessibility.
Key Responsibilities

Learn to review websites and applications for accessibility compliance.

Execute accessibility tests using screen readers (e.g., NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver), keyboard-only navigation, and other assistive tools.

Identify barriers such as missing alt text, improper headings, poor color contrast, inaccessible forms, and keyboard traps.

Use automated tools like Axe, WAVE, Lighthouse, or Accessibility Insights to perform initial scans and identify common violations.
2. Standards & Guidelines Compliance

Understand and apply WCAG 2.1 / 2.2 guidelines at Level A and AA.

Gain knowledge of Section 508 and ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements for digital compliance.

Learn about ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) roles and attributes used in making dynamic content accessible.
3. Reporting & Documentation

Document accessibility issues clearly with reproducible steps, expected results, and screenshots.

Log issues in bug tracking tools such as JIRA, Bugzilla, or internal systems.

Prepare accessibility audit reports and support documents under the guidance of senior testers.
4. Collaboration & Communication

Work with development, design, and QA teams to explain accessibility issues and provide remediation suggestions.

Participate in team meetings, walkthroughs, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

Communicate professionally with team leads and project managers regarding test results and timelines.
5. Continuous Learning & Improvement

Stay updated with new accessibility laws, testing tools, and evolving WCAG criteria.

Undertake internal or external certifications such as CPACC, WAS, or DHS Trusted Tester (optional, supported by employer).

Build empathy and understanding of users with visual, auditory, mobility, or cognitive impairments.
