Job Description
Job Summary:
The Account Assistant in a Chartered Accountant’s office plays a vital role in supporting day-to-day accounting, taxation, and auditing operations. The role primarily involves managing accounting entries in Tally, preparing and filing GST returns, assisting with Income Tax Return (ITR) filing, supporting Tax Audits, and participating in Internal Audit assignments.
This position is ideal for candidates who have a strong understanding of accounting principles, attention to detail, and working knowledge of Indian taxation systems, especially GST and Income Tax. The role demands a high level of integrity, accuracy, and a willingness to learn and adapt in a professional office environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Accounting in Tally:

Perform day-to-day accounting entries in Tally ERP or Tally Prime.

Handle all aspects of bookkeeping including journal entries, ledger maintenance, and bank reconciliations.

Record sales, purchases, receipts, payments, and adjustments accurately.

Maintain proper documentation of vouchers, bills, and other financial records.
2. GST Compliance:

Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, etc.).

Reconcile GST returns with books of accounts and GSTR-2B/GSTR-2A data.

Manage Input Tax Credit (ITC) tracking and corrections for mismatches.

Assist in responding to GST department notices or queries.
3. Income Tax Return (ITR) Preparation and Filing:

Collect and verify client data for ITR preparation.

Prepare individual, partnership, HUF, and company returns (ITR-1 to ITR-7) using tax software or IT portal.

Ensure accurate calculation of tax liabilities, deductions, and TDS.

File ITRs and assist clients with refunds, compliance issues, or notices.
4. Tax Audit Support:

Assist in preparing working papers, audit schedules, and financial summaries.

Coordinate with clients to gather necessary documentation.

Help in drafting tax audit reports in Form 3CD and Form 3CB.

Support the CA in finalizing tax audit reports as per Income Tax Act.
5. Internal Audit Support:

Help conduct internal audits for clients as per scope and audit checklist.

Identify irregularities or compliance gaps and prepare draft findings.

Perform stock audits, expense verification, and control reviews.

Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with client data.
6. Other Tasks:

Prepare TDS returns and challans (Form 24Q, 26Q, etc.).

Manage statutory compliance calendars and reminders for clients.

Assist in ROC filings, PF/ESIC compliance, and other statutory tasks as needed.

Perform client follow-ups for documents, payments, and clarifications.
