Job Summary
An Account Assistant supports the finance and accounting department by managing and interpreting financial information, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant financial regulations. This role plays a crucial part in the preparation of financial documents, analysis of financial data, budgeting, auditing, and tax-related activities. The Account Assistant ensures that the organization’s financial records are accurate, up to date, and well-organized to support sound financial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Record Management

Maintain accurate financial records and assist in the preparation of accounts, including ledgers, journals, and balance sheets.

Record day-to-day financial transactions including purchases, receipts, and payments.

Ensure all financial data is entered correctly into accounting software (such as Tally, QuickBooks, Zoho Books, or SAP).
2. Financial Reporting

Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

Compile financial reports for management and support decision-making by providing relevant financial insights.

Support the preparation of internal and external audits by providing requested financial information and documentation.
3. Budgeting and Forecasting

Assist in preparing company budgets, forecasting financial trends, and monitoring expenditures.

Analyze budget variances and recommend cost-control strategies.

Work closely with departmental heads to ensure budgets are adhered to.
4. Financial Analysis

Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.

Prepare financial summaries and interpret financial results to support business decisions.

Assist in cost-benefit analysis and risk assessments.
5. Tax Preparation and Compliance

Assist with preparing and filing tax returns, including GST, TDS, and income tax.

Ensure all tax records are maintained in compliance with local laws and regulations.

Stay updated with changes in tax laws and financial regulations that impact the business.
6. Auditing Support

Assist with internal audits by organizing financial data and ensuring accuracy and completeness of records.

Support external auditors during statutory audits by providing the necessary documentation and explanations.

Help implement recommendations from audit findings to improve financial processes.
7. Risk Management

Identify potential financial risks and report them to senior staff.

Participate in developing strategies to mitigate operational and financial risks.

Ensure financial controls are followed consistently across departments.
8. Accounts Payable and Receivable

Monitor accounts receivable to ensure timely collection of outstanding payments.

Process accounts payable, verifying and reconciling invoices and making payments as scheduled.

Reconcile bank statements and other financial transactions to ensure accuracy.
9. Compliance and Record Keeping

Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulations.

Maintain organized and accurate financial records for future reference and audit purposes.

Assist in updating and improving financial systems and procedures.
Required Skills and Competencies
