Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accountant and Bookkeeper to manage our day-to-day accounting functions, maintain accurate financial records, and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will be responsible for recording transactions, reconciling bank accounts, preparing reports, assisting with audits, and supporting the broader financial operations of the organization.
This position plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of the company by ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and transparency in all accounting activities. Candidates with practical experience in accounting software, a sound understanding of bookkeeping principles, and a proactive attitude are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Day-to-Day Accounting Operations

Record financial transactions such as purchases, sales, receipts, and payments in accounting software.

Maintain general ledger entries and ensure proper classification of expenses and income.

Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely billing and collections.

Handle petty cash, expense reimbursements, and ensure proper documentation of all financial transactions.
2. Bookkeeping and Financial Record Maintenance

Maintain up-to-date financial records in accordance with company policy and accounting standards.

Organize and file invoices, receipts, bank statements, tax documents, and other financial records.

Prepare ledgers, trial balances, and reconcile discrepancies in financial data.

Ensure that all entries are backed by appropriate documentation and comply with internal controls.
3. Bank and Account Reconciliations

Perform monthly bank reconciliations for all company accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies.

Reconcile credit card statements, vendor balances, and customer accounts regularly.

Ensure that all transactions recorded in the books match the actual bank transactions.
4. Financial Reporting

Assist in the preparation of financial reports including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

Generate customized financial reports for management to support decision-making.

Assist in analyzing financial performance and identifying trends or anomalies.
5. Tax Compliance and Regulatory Filing

Prepare and maintain records for tax returns (e.g., GST, TDS, VAT, or other relevant local taxes).

Ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns and payment of tax liabilities.

Stay updated with changes in tax laws and accounting standards that may affect the company.

Assist in internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and responding to auditor queries.
6. Budgeting and Forecasting Support

Support the finance team in creating annual budgets and forecasts.

Monitor actual vs. budgeted expenses and highlight variances.

Provide insights into cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.

Minimum years of experience in bookkeeping and general accounting roles.

Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Tally, Zoho Books, or similar platforms.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax rules.

Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.

Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, etc.).
