Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant Intern to join our finance team. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in accounting, financial reporting, and compliance within a professional business environment. The ideal candidate will assist with financial transactions, bookkeeping, and other accounting-related tasks while learning about industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Record-Keeping & Data Entry
- Assist in recording financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Help maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in accounting software.
- Verify and reconcile bank statements, invoices, and receipts to ensure accuracy.
2. Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Support in processing vendor invoices and expense reimbursements.
- Assist in monitoring outstanding customer payments and sending reminders.
- Help track and report company expenses to maintain financial efficiency.
3. Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Assist in preparing financial reports, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and discrepancies.
- Participate in budget preparation and forecasting activities.
4. Taxation & Compliance
- Support in ensuring compliance with local tax regulations and company policies.
- Assist in preparing documentation for tax filings and audits.
- Help with research on tax laws and regulations as needed.
5. Audit & Internal Controls
- Assist in internal and external audit preparations.
- Help review financial statements for errors or inconsistencies.
- Participate in evaluating financial controls and suggesting improvements.
6. General Administrative Support
- Assist with document organization, filing, and record-keeping.
- Support the finance team with ad hoc accounting tasks as required.
- Attend meetings and training sessions to enhance accounting knowledge.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Xero).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
