Job Description
Job Summary:
An Accountant plays a critical role in maintaining the financial health and integrity of an organization. The primary responsibility of the accountant is to manage financial records, prepare reports, ensure accuracy in accounting, and support financial planning and compliance activities. Accountants are responsible for day-to-day accounting tasks including bookkeeping, invoicing, expense tracking, tax preparation, and supporting audits.
The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills, a good understanding of accounting principles, attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting software. This role requires working closely with internal departments, external auditors, tax consultants, and sometimes customers or vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Bookkeeping and Financial Record Keeping

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions.

Record day-to-day financial entries including purchases, receipts, sales, and payments.

Ensure all entries are properly coded and posted in accounting systems.
2. Accounts Payable and Receivable
-
Manage vendor and customer accounts.

Generate and send invoices to customers; track payments and follow up on overdue accounts.

Process bills and payments to vendors on time and maintain records of the same.

Reconcile accounts payable and receivable balances.
3. Bank Reconciliation and Cash Management
-
Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure financial data accuracy.
-
Track daily cash flow and update internal records accordingly.

Monitor bank transactions, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues promptly.
4. Preparation of Financial Statements

Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements including:

Profit and Loss Statement
-
Balance Sheet
-
Cash Flow Statement
-

Generate internal financial reports for management decision-making.
-
Support the budgeting process by providing historical data and expense projections.
5. Taxation and Compliance
-
Ensure timely and accurate filing of GST, TDS, income tax, and other statutory returns.

Maintain knowledge of current tax laws and ensure company compliance.
-
Assist in year-end closing and statutory audits by preparing required documentation.
-
Liaise with auditors, CA firms, and government bodies as required.
6. Inventory and Asset Management (if applicable)

Track and update inventory and fixed assets registers.
-
Support periodic stock verification and physical audits.
-
Reconcile inventory accounts with sales and purchase records.
7. Payroll Support

Coordinate with HR for processing employee payroll.
-
Maintain employee reimbursement records and process salary-related journal entries.

Ensure statutory deductions like PF, ESI, PT, etc., are calculated and paid on time.
8. Internal Control and Documentation
-
Establish and follow internal financial control procedures.

Keep documentation of all accounting processes, vouchers, and approvals.

Ensure secure and organized storage of digital and physical records for audit readiness.
