Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant responsible for managing GST and TDS filings, maintaining accurate books of accounts in Tally, and assisting in the preparation of statutory audit reports and income tax returns. The candidate must be familiar with Indian taxation laws, have working knowledge of online tax portals, and be capable of maintaining complete and up-to-date financial records.
The role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, regulatory compliance, and proficiency in Tally accounting software. This is a critical position in the finance team to ensure proper tax compliance and timely financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Bookkeeping and General Accounting

Record day-to-day financial transactions using Tally (ERP 9 / Prime) and ensure accuracy of entries.

Maintain ledgers, journals, and prepare vouchers for payments, receipts, purchases, and sales.

Reconcile bank statements, vendor accounts, and customer balances regularly.

Monitor cash flow, accounts receivable/payable, and general ledger balances.
2. GST Compliance and Filing
-
Maintain accurate records of GST-related transactions including purchase and sales registers.

Reconcile GSTR-2A/2B with purchase invoices and take corrective actions where necessary.

Prepare and file monthly/quarterly GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, and annual GSTR-9).

Ensure timely input tax credit (ITC) utilization and compliance with GST rules and deadlines.
3. TDS Compliance and Filing
-
Deduct TDS as per applicable rates on relevant transactions like contractor payments, rent, professional fees, etc.

Maintain TDS ledgers, prepare challans, and file quarterly TDS returns (Form 24Q, 26Q).

Generate and issue Form 16 / 16A to employees and vendors.

Ensure timely deposit of TDS and resolve any mismatches or notices from the Income Tax Department.
4. Income Tax & Portal Management

Verify tax-related data through the Income Tax portal (Form 26AS, AIS, TIS).

Assist in preparing and filing individual or company income tax returns (ITR-1 to ITR-6).

Respond to income tax notices and coordinate with auditors/consultants for assessments.

Track advance tax payments and ensure all required forms are filed within deadlines.
5. Audit and Compliance Support

Prepare and organize accounting records and documentation for internal, statutory, or tax audits.

Work with auditors for data submission, clarification of entries, and finalization of audit reports.

Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.

Maintain proper filing of books, vouchers, and statutory documents for future reference.
6. MIS & Reporting
-
Generate monthly/quarterly reports on financial status, GST liabilities, TDS deductions, and tax provisions.

Maintain and update Excel spreadsheets and Tally reports for internal decision-making.

Present data in audit-friendly formats with clarity and transparency.
