The Accountant is responsible for managing and maintaining the financial records of an organization on a part-time basis. This role involves recording financial transactions, preparing reports, reconciling accounts, assisting with budgeting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Recordkeeping

Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for all transactions.

Post journal entries and manage general ledger accounts.

Record day-to-day financial transactions in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage.

Maintain organized documentation for all financial records, including invoices, receipts, payroll entries, and tax documents.
2. Financial Reporting

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reports.

Provide regular financial updates to the management team, summarizing key financial metrics and trends.

Assist with the preparation of internal financial reports and custom reports as required by department heads.
3. Budgeting and Forecasting

Support the preparation of annual and periodic budgets.

Monitor actual expenses versus budgeted figures, and highlight any discrepancies or variances.

Offer insights and recommendations to improve budget planning and financial forecasting.
4. Bank Reconciliations and Account Reconciliation

Conduct bank reconciliations on a regular basis to ensure the accuracy of records.

Reconcile vendor and customer accounts and follow up on outstanding balances.

Investigate and resolve discrepancies in accounts.
5. Payroll Support (if applicable)

Assist with payroll calculations and verify accuracy of payroll records.

Ensure correct processing of deductions, tax payments, and statutory contributions.

Maintain records related to employee compensation and tax filings.
6. Accounts Payable and Receivable

Process supplier invoices and employee reimbursements in a timely manner.

Issue customer invoices and follow up on outstanding payments.

Monitor aging reports and help maintain healthy cash flow by ensuring timely collections and payments.
7. Tax Compliance

Assist with preparation of tax filings, such as VAT, GST, or local sales taxes.

Work with external tax professionals or advisors during tax season or audits.

Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal tax regulations.
8. Audit and Compliance

Prepare necessary documentation and reports for internal or external audits.
