Job Description
Job Summary:
An Accountant is responsible for managing, analyzing, and reporting financial data to ensure that an organization remains financially sound and compliant with regulations. Accountants handle a variety of essential functions including bookkeeping, preparing financial statements, managing budgets, processing payroll, and supporting audits.
This role is vital to the efficient financial operation of a company and requires high attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, and a strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations. Accountants also provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software and tools.

Record all financial transactions, including sales, purchases, income, and payments.

Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts on a regular basis.
2. Preparation of Financial Statements:

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements (P&L), and cash flow statements.

Ensure that financial reports comply with standard accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS).
3. Accounts Payable and Receivable:
-
Monitor and manage outgoing payments to vendors, suppliers, and service providers.

Process invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payments.
-
Track incoming payments from clients or customers and follow up on outstanding accounts.
4. Budgeting and Forecasting:
-
Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
-
Monitor budget variances and provide detailed explanations for discrepancies.
-
Recommend cost-saving strategies based on budget analysis.
5. Tax Compliance and Reporting:
-
Prepare and file tax returns in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
-
Ensure timely remittance of taxes including VAT, GST, income tax, and payroll taxes.

Stay updated on tax laws and changes to ensure full compliance.
6. Payroll Processing:

Calculate and process employee salaries, bonuses, and deductions.

Ensure accurate calculation of overtime, tax withholdings, benefits, and other adjustments.

Coordinate with HR to resolve discrepancies in payroll data.
7. Audit Support:

Assist internal and external auditors during audit processes by preparing required documents and explanations.
-
Ensure that all supporting documentation is organized and accessible for review.

Address audit findings and help implement corrective actions as necessary.
8. Internal Controls and Compliance:

Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets.

Ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures.
-
Recommend improvements to financial processes for efficiency and accuracy.
Key Skills and Competencies:

Attention to Detail: Ability to spot numerical errors, inconsistencies, and irregularities.

Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to analyze financial data and interpret results for decision-making.

Communication Skills: Clear and concise written and verbal communication, especially for reporting financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage workload efficiently.

Problem-Solving: Capable of investigating issues and implementing effective solutions.

Tech Proficiency: Proficient in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Tally, SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics. Advanced Excel skills are often essential.

Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive financial data with discretion and integrity.
