Job Summary:
An Accountant is responsible for managing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring accurate financial transactions within an organization. The role involves recording, classifying, and analyzing financial data to support effective decision-making and compliance with statutory regulations. Accountants play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health and transparency of a business by ensuring timely and precise bookkeeping and reporting.
This position requires strong numerical skills, attention to detail, integrity, and proficiency in accounting software and principles.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Record Keeping

Maintain and update accounting records, including journals, ledgers, and reconciliation statements.

Record all financial transactions such as purchases, sales, receipts, and payments accurately and timely.

Ensure all transactions comply with company policies and legal standards.
2. Preparation of Financial Statements
-
Compile financial statements such as profit & loss accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, or areas for improvement.

Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
3. Budgeting and Forecasting
-
Support the budgeting process by providing historical data and cost estimates.

Monitor expenditures and budget allocations to ensure cost control.

Prepare financial forecasts to assist in strategic planning.
4. Taxation and Compliance
-
Calculate, file, and ensure timely payment of taxes such as GST, income tax, TDS, and other statutory dues.

Prepare and submit statutory reports and returns as required by regulatory authorities.

Liaise with tax consultants and auditors during tax assessments and audits.
5. Accounts Payable and Receivable
-
Manage invoices, payments to vendors, and receipts from customers.

Follow up on outstanding payments and resolve discrepancies in accounts.

Ensure timely processing of payroll, employee reimbursements, and vendor payments.
6. Internal Controls and Auditing
-
Maintain internal control procedures to prevent fraud and errors.
-
Assist auditors during internal and external audits by providing relevant documents and explanations.

Identify and recommend improvements to financial processes and controls.
7. Software and Data Management
-
Use accounting software such as Tally, QuickBooks, SAP, or others for daily operations.

Maintain organized electronic and physical financial records.

Generate customized financial reports as needed by management.
8. Team Collaboration

Coordinate with other departments like sales, purchase, HR, and operations for accurate financial data.

Assist in financial training for staff where required.

Provide support to senior accountants or finance managers in special projects.
