Job Description

An aircraft loader's job involves safely and efficiently loading and unloading aircraft with baggage, freight, and cargo, operating specialized equipment like cargo loaders and lift trucks, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Loading & Unloading Cargo and Baggage:

  • Load luggage, cargo, and mail onto aircraft securely and in a balanced manner.
  • Unload arriving baggage and transport it to the designated area.
  • Use conveyor belts, trolleys, and forklifts for handling heavy loads.

2. Safety & Security Compliance:

  • Follow airport security and airline safety regulations.
  • Ensure proper weight distribution for aircraft balance.
  • Inspect baggage and cargo for any prohibited items.

3. Coordination & Communication:

  • Work closely with ground crew, baggage handlers, and flight staff.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and air traffic controllers.
  • Ensure timely baggage transfer between connecting flights.

4. Equipment Operation & Maintenance:

  • Operate ground support equipment like baggage carts and tugs.
  • Report any damaged cargo or malfunctioning equipment.
