Job Overview
An AML/TM Analyst is responsible for monitoring financial transactions to detect and prevent money laundering, fraud, and suspicious activities. The role involves analyzing customer transactions, investigating potential risks, and ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines such as FATF, FinCEN, and AML laws.
Key Responsibilities
1. Transaction Monitoring & Analysis
- Monitor customer transactions for suspicious patterns and unusual activity.
- Analyze high-risk transactions, large cash deposits, fund transfers, and unusual behaviors.
- Escalate cases that require further investigation to senior compliance teams.
2. Suspicious Activity Investigation & Reporting
- Review flagged transactions and prepare Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs).
- Conduct enhanced due diligence (EDD) on high-risk customers and entities.
- Coordinate with regulatory bodies and financial institutions for case resolution.
3. Compliance & Regulatory Adherence
- Ensure compliance with AML, KYC, CFT (Combating the Financing of Terrorism), and other financial regulations.
- Stay updated with global and local AML laws, regulatory changes, and industry trends.
- Assist in internal audits and regulatory inspections.
4. Data Analysis & Risk Assessment
- Utilize AML software tools to detect fraudulent activities (e.g., Actimize, SAS, FICO, NICE, or in-house systems).
- Conduct risk assessments on customer accounts, payment methods, and financial products.
- Identify trends and recommend policy improvements to strengthen AML measures.
5. Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of investigations, reports, and compliance measures.
- Collaborate with internal teams, law enforcement, and regulators when required.
- Provide periodic reports to senior management and compliance officers.
