Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Appian Developer to join our growing Business Process Management (BPM) team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying Appian-based applications that streamline business processes, improve efficiency, and support digital transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in Appian development and an understanding of software development best practices, business process modeling, and system integration.
As an Appian Developer, you will collaborate closely with business analysts, architects, testers, and end users to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions using the Appian Low-Code Platform.
Key Responsibilities

Application Development:

Design and develop scalable and maintainable applications using the Appian platform.

Build user interfaces, process models, business rules, reports, and integrations using Appian’s low-code environment.

Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications.

Customize Appian plug-ins or develop new plug-ins as required for specific business functionality.

Ensure solutions adhere to Appian best practices and enterprise architecture standards.

Process Automation:

Analyze existing business processes and recommend improvements using Appian’s capabilities.

Automate end-to-end workflows and business processes for various business units.
-
Design and implement business process flows, including human tasks, data flow, and system events.

Integration and APIs:
-
Integrate Appian applications with external systems such as databases, REST/SOAP APIs, enterprise applications, and third-party services.

Utilize Appian Smart Services, Web APIs, and integration objects to connect with legacy or cloud-based systems.

Testing and Quality Assurance:
-
Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including unit testing, system testing, and user acceptance testing.

Debug and troubleshoot technical issues and performance bottlenecks.

Write and maintain automated test scripts for continuous testing.

Deployment and Support:
-
Assist in the deployment of Appian applications across development, staging, and production environments.

Monitor application performance and provide timely support to resolve user issues.

Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions for production incidents.

Collaboration and Documentation:

Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including business stakeholders, QA analysts, DevOps, and IT support staff.

Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, configuration guides, and deployment notes.

Provide knowledge transfer and training to end users and internal team members.

Required Skills and Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.

3-7 years of experience in application development, with at least 1–3 years of experience in Appian BPM development.

Strong knowledge of Appian components including SAIL, Process Modeler, Records, Reports, Web APIs, and Data Stores.

Proficiency in business process modeling and hands-on experience in implementing end-to-end BPM solutions.

Experience with Appian integration techniques such as RESTful APIs, web services, and third-party systems.
-
Strong understanding of relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) and data modeling.

Familiarity with software development methodologies such as Agile and Scrum.

Ability to write clear and efficient code in Appian's expression language.
-
Solid understanding of application security, session handling, and authentication mechanisms.
-
Experience with version control tools like Git and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.

Appian Level 1 or Level 2 Developer Certification preferred.
