Job Description

Position Summary:

·       Drive Sales growth in Power, Oil & Gas, Boiler OEM industries in Southern region states of India.

·       The engineer shall also have the responsibility to support the Application Engineering role for the country.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales:

  • Generate profitable orders through self-generated opportunities from the sales accounts and EPCs assigned to you, fully satisfying customers and establishing long-term relationships of trust and confidence with customers, meeting or exceeding the annual sales targets established.
  • Ensure that 50% of the time is spent on field activities, such as customer visits, boiler house audits, and plant surveys, properly planned, organized, executed, and timely reported to achieve maximum productivity and effectiveness.
  • Continually search for new prospects to expand your customer base and fully exploit any sales opportunities within your assigned area.
  • Develop a full understanding of the industrial base allocated to you and be aware of the market activities and the competition within this segment. Identify sales opportunities and work earnestly to convert them into orders.
  • Continually upgrade oneself through company-conducted or company-sponsored training (Academy) and self-study to maintain a high standard of application knowledge and selling techniques. Apply the knowledge attained by making technical proposals and highlighting the benefits as well as improvements to plant efficiency to customers and prospects.

Applications Engineering:

  • Size and select suitable Gestra/Spirax products for customer enquiries (MRO or EPC projects) and prepare both technical and commercial proposals based on customer specifications and in compliance with company policy and relevant processes in submitting the proposals.
  • Prepare proposals in response to requests for quotation in a timely, complete, and accurate manner.
  • Order handling – Evaluate and interpret customers’ specifications. Clarify with sales and/or customers where necessary to resolve unclear requirements. Prepare detailed technical and commercial proposals, ensure timely follow-up, and respond to clarifications arising from customers’ evaluation. Coordinate shipment of orders. Assist Sales Manager and/or Finance Department to secure customer finance.
  • Provide interface between the relevant external sales personnel, internal spares, service, and technical departments at GESTRA, distributors, and associate companies to gather, assemble, analyze, and determine correct responses to customer queries.
  • Interface with departments and others to ensure design, costs, schedule, quality issues, and methods to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Act as the contact point for technical and commercial clarifications for customers, agents, and associate companies on all steam and product enquiries.
  • Visit customer sites/plants along with sales personnel to self-generate opportunities and new application area possibilities and propose suitable technical solutions where required.
  • Help develop Package Solutions portfolio from cradle to grave to achieve real terms order growth and profitability. Identify and drive growth opportunities in targeted products.
  • Support marketing functions like technical seminars, technical webinars, technical roadshows, events, and online marketing (help desk).
  • Selection, design, prepare conceptual P&ID and layout drawings, 2D & 3D, and develop applications that effectively accomplish client objectives and user specifications.
  • Participate in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and other reports to support the goal of Focused Sectors (Power, Chemical, Boiler OEM).

Key Skills:

  • Proven track record of delivering sustained growth in Gestra focus sector sales.
  • Deep knowledge of steam-use processes and their application in a sector sales environment.
  • Sound engineering background with field experience in Power, Chemical, Boiler OEMs, O&G industries would be advantageous.
  • Proven track record in sales & management roles and handling EPC project needs in power industry, chemical, refinery.
  • Experience in developing strategic accounts and management.
  • Any design experience of mechanical/electromechanical products and hardware associated with industrial steam or fluid applications, including flanged and non-flanged control valves, pressure regulators, flowmeters, safety valves, air traps, and vents or other process equipment will be an advantage.
  • Prior EPC project experience will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of steam systems and valves.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, ERP systems (E1 and/or SAP), and CRM will be a plus.

Education Requirement: Mechanical/Electrical/Electronic/Industrial/Automation Engineering Diploma/Degree

Experience Requirement: Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in technical sales and marketing or application engineering of steam-related products, ancillaries, hot water systems, packaged solutions, etc. Working experience as a process/mechanical/piping engineer in similar industries would be advantageous.
