ARC Welder
Job Description
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan layouts.
- Weld small and large components such as copper plumbing, beams, and pipelines.
- Use specialized machinery for industrial welding and oversee machines that perform the same job.
- Maintain and repair all machinery.
- Assess welded surfaces, structures and components to identify errors.
- Follow and enforce strict safety regulations such as wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Welding and Fabrication:

Perform arc welding on a variety of metals, including mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, using manual and automatic welding machines.

Weld components according to blueprints, technical drawings, and written specifications, ensuring the welds are accurate, clean, and meet both aesthetic and functional requirements.

Ensure correct alignment of metal pieces and ensure all components are securely welded together.

Fabricate and modify parts as per project requirements, ensuring proper shape and size.

Operate welding equipment like arc welders, grinders, and cutting torches safely and effectively.
2. Quality Control:

Inspect welds for accuracy, quality, and adherence to safety standards.

Ensure that each weld meets relevant industry codes and safety standards, such as AWS (American Welding Society) or ISO certifications.

Conduct tests and visual inspections to detect imperfections or weaknesses in welds and apply corrective measures when necessary.

Perform post-weld grinding, polishing, and cleaning of welds to meet quality standards.
3. Reading and Interpreting Blueprints:

Interpret and follow blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine specifications, such as the type of materials and the correct welding methods.

Measure and cut materials to precise dimensions in accordance with design specifications.
4. Equipment Maintenance:

Perform routine maintenance on welding machines and tools to ensure they are in optimal working condition.

Identify issues with welding equipment and report them to supervisors for repair or replacement.

Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols and minimizing the risk of accidents.
5. Safety and Compliance:

Follow all safety procedures and practices while performing welding operations to ensure a safe working environment.

Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, face shields, helmets, and safety glasses.

Adhere to the company’s safety guidelines, including proper handling of hazardous materials and gases.

Maintain compliance with local and national regulations, such as OSHA standards, to ensure the safety of all personnel.
6. Collaboration and Communication:

Work collaboratively with other welders, fabricators, and engineers to complete projects on time.

Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to report any challenges or issues encountered during the welding process.

Participate in team meetings to discuss project timelines, resources, and challenges.
