Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Welding Operations:
-
Perform arc welding using appropriate techniques such as SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) based on the material type and job requirements.

Weld components in flat, vertical, horizontal, or overhead positions.
-
Follow welding procedures and specifications to ensure strong and clean weld joints.
2. Material Preparation:
-
Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, welding symbols, and instructions.
-
Prepare base materials by cleaning, cutting, grinding, or positioning before welding.
-
Select appropriate electrodes, welding rods, and tools for each task.
3. Quality Control & Inspection:
-
Conduct visual inspections of completed welds to ensure quality, strength, and precision.

Identify and correct defects such as cracks, weak welds, or spatter.
-
Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) if required or assist quality inspectors during testing.
4. Equipment Operation & Maintenance:
-
Set up, adjust, and maintain arc welding equipment including welding machines, chipping hammers, grinders, and protective gear.

Ensure welding machines are in safe working condition, including checking voltage, current settings, and electrode placement.

Conduct routine maintenance and report equipment malfunctions promptly.
5. Safety and Compliance:
-
Wear and maintain appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as welding masks, gloves, aprons, and safety shoes.

Adhere to health and safety regulations, including fire prevention protocols and proper ventilation in confined spaces.

Ensure compliance with company policies and industry welding standards (e.g., AWS, ISO, ASME).
6. Site Work and Coordination:
-
Work on construction sites, workshops, or client locations, sometimes under challenging environmental conditions.

Coordinate with fabricators, supervisors, and other tradespeople to complete projects on time.

Transport and secure tools, consumables, and welding machines to designated work areas.
