Assistant Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
Required Skills:
Key Responsibilities
1. Design and Drafting Support
-
Assist senior mechanical engineers in developing detailed engineering drawings using software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo.

Prepare 2D/3D models, assembly drawings, layout plans, and fabrication drawings as per project requirements.

Modify existing drawings as per changes suggested during design reviews or by the engineering team.
2. Documentation and Reports
-
Prepare and maintain documentation such as bill of materials (BOM), design reports, technical specifications, and manuals.

Record test results, calibration data, installation logs, and maintenance schedules.
-
Organize and update project files, equipment logs, and engineering records for audit and future reference.
3. Project Execution and Coordination
-
Provide support in planning and scheduling of mechanical work activities under the guidance of senior engineers or project managers.

Assist in coordinating with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of components or services.

Participate in site inspections, supervise installations, and monitor mechanical work progress in coordination with the execution team.
4. Quality Assurance and Testing
-
Support testing of mechanical components, assemblies, or systems under controlled conditions.

Help conduct inspections to ensure adherence to design specifications and quality standards (e.g., ISO, ASME, or company-specific).

Record and report faults, non-conformities, or areas needing improvement and propose corrective actions.
5. Maintenance and Troubleshooting
-
Provide support in the maintenance of mechanical equipment, tools, or utilities in production plants or field projects.

Identify root causes of mechanical failures and assist in implementing corrective and preventive measures.

Collaborate with maintenance teams to schedule preventive maintenance and ensure minimum equipment downtime.
6. Safety and Compliance
-
Adhere to all workplace safety regulations and ensure mechanical systems comply with relevant codes and standards.

Support the engineering team in conducting hazard analysis and risk assessments.

Assist in implementing energy-saving and safety-enhancing mechanical solutions.
7. Team Collaboration and Communication
-
Work under the supervision of senior mechanical engineers or the department head.

Participate in team meetings, design reviews, and technical discussions.

Communicate project updates, issues, and suggestions clearly and professionally.
