Essential Qualiications :

I. A medical qualification included in the first or second schedule or pad II of the third schedule of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. Persons possessing qualifications included in pad II of the third schedule of this Act shall also fulfill the conditions specified in sub-section (3) of the section 13 of the said Act. II. A postgraduate qualification recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or equivalent thereto (i.e, if a person with postgraduate medical qualifications awarded in the United States of America, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia or New Zealand desires to take up a teaching appointment, hislher qualification can be considered as equivalent to MD1MSIDM1MCh as the case may be, for the post of Assistant Professor in respective departments. Diplomate National Board (DNB) shall be treated as equivalent to MD1MS DMIMCh qualifications of the respective broad 1 super specialties.

III. A total of 14, 10, 6 and 3 years of teaching andfor research experience at a recognized teaching institution, after the prescribed MDIPhD degree for the posts of Professor, Additional Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor, respectively; or 12, 8, 4 and 1 year of teaching andlor research experience, respectively, after obtaining the degree of DMIMCh (2•year duration) in the concerned specialty; or 11, 7, 3 and 0 years of teaching andlor research experience after obtaining the degree of DMIMCh (3 years duration) in the respective specialty as on last date for submission of applications. In subjects where DMIMCh qualification is not yet mandated by the MCI, 3•years' post MDIMS experience in concerned specialty as Senior Resident at an Institution recognized by the MCI for the purpose will be accepted in lieu of such qualification for the post of Assistant Professor.
