Qualifications : (i) Good Academic record with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Master's degree level in a relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University. Good academic record shall mean that a candidate has secured at least second class at graduate level, or has secured an average of 50% marks in the previous three examinations. (ii) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, candidates should have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET. (iii) NET/SLET/SET shall be the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professors (iv) Candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulation, 2009 shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions. (v) Candidates who were registered for the M.Phil/Ph.D. Programme prior to July 11, 2009, and have been awarded the Degree under the provisions of the then existing Ordinances/ Regulations of the Institution awarding the degrees shall also be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions subject to fulfillment of the following conditions: a) Ph.D. degree of the candidate awarded in regular mode only; b) Evaluation of the Ph.D. thesis by at least two external examiners; c) Open Ph.D. viva-voce of the candidate had been conducted; d) The candidate has published two research papers from out of his/her Ph.D. work, of which at least one must be in a refereed journal; e) The candidate has presented two papers in seminars/conferences based on his/her Ph.D. work Fulfillment of conditions at (a) to (e) above are to be certified by the Vice-Chancellor/ Dean (Academic Affairs)/ Dean (University Instructions). (vi) NET/SLET/SET shall not be required for such Master’s Degree programme in discipline for which NET/SLET/SET is not available. (vii) A relaxation of 5% shall be provided at the graduate and master's level for the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Differently-abled (Physically and visually differentlyabled) categories for the purpose of eligibility and for assessing good academic record during direct recruitment to teaching positions. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible, based on only the qualifying marks without including any grace mark. (viii) A relaxation of 5% shall be provided from 55% to 50% of the marks to the Ph.D. Degree holders, who have obtained their Master's Degree prior to 19th September, 1991. (ix) A relevant grade which is regarded as equivalent of 55% wherever the grading system is followed by a recognized university shall also be considered eligible. (x) A minimum of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) will be required at the Master's level for those recruited as teachers at any level from research institutions and at the entry level of Assistant Professors.
